[PREMIERE] talker – Collateral Damage

We’re very excited to premiere the debut of talker, an incredible new artist, who just released her song “Collateral Damage”.

talker is Celeste Taucher; Frankfurt-born, Sacramento-raised, and now LA-based, initially rising up as the keyboardist/back-up vocalist in Frenship. Inspired by artists ranging from Vérité & Banks to Nirvana & Soundgarden, Celeste launched her solo project, talker, as a means of blending these various inspirations into what she calls “grunge-pop”. The result is fresh, powerful, and haunting all at once. “Collateral Damage” starts immediately with her vocals that are simultaneously gentle & dark as an acoustic guitar strums along with a growing intensity.

The track grows with a gritty atmosphere, implementing grunge elements with an undeniable pop sensibility. Each line talker sings is melodically gripping while the lyrics tell the story of damaging pseudo-relationship she says is autobiographical. Likewise, the chorus explodes with an awesome intensity, backed by an impressive vocal performance full of emotion and catharsis.

“Collateral Damage” is the debut single off talker’s upcoming EP, which was made in collaboration with Dan Sadin (guitarist, Frenship), April Bender (Glassnote), and Phil Simmonds (Jessie J, Eryn Allen Kane). The other songs on the EP deal with anxiety, love, fear, and identity in a way that remains authentic in a tangible and relatable way. talker’s “Collateral Damage” is a strong debut from an established musician ready to make her mark.

We Found New Music recently interviewed Celeste Taucher (talker) which can be found here.

talker will also be performing her release show at Madame Siam on Tuesday, July 24th; RSVP here.
