THE SOCIAL at The Hi Hat on 10/2

Guess who found a hot new band? We did. Grant Owens turned me onto The Social recently and since then I’ve certainly come to love their sound which encompasses a mix of bright, immersive vocals, airy guitar tones with driving riffs and rhythm pushing drums.

This weekend, I had a lucky break and was able to chat with the friendly gentlemen over FaceTime after one of their rehearsals. Before I tell you about their show at the Hi Hat tomorrow, here are some facts about them:

One — The Social currently has four songs out and one music video (linked) available right now… That number will double when their EP – Strawberry Valley Drive – comes out on Friday! It’s named after the street they wrote all their songs on.

1(b). This means you can tell your friends you knew them before it was cool.

2. The band is a three-person quartet, otherwise known as a trio. Keaton Stromberg (Vocals, Production), Tommy Horrock (Guitar), and Alexander Rosca (Drums). I don’t know their favorite ice cream flavors yet but believe me I’ll find out.

3. How good are they? They were brought on tour before they played a single show. This epic inception led them across state lines and in really long van rides that jumpstarted their camaraderie to a level unbeknownst to most roommates. By their second show, they already had fans who were singing along to their unreleased songs.

4. Did I mention they’re playing a free show at the Hi Hat tomorrow!

The Social were subjected to my first ever game of Band Libs. It’s like Mad Libs, except with bands.

Dear Prospective Fans,
Hi! We’re The Social, an alternative rock group of lovers that love to run. Tomorrow, we’re playing a free show at the Hi Hat on candle light [October 2nd]. If you can come, you’ll be able to see Tommy splashing while Alexander jumps on the drums. Keaton will play the show with loud energy and afterward he will dance with his cult. We hope to see you at our party.
