Noella Nix: Someone

Sometimes I wonder what it is they are putting in the water over there in Australia that makes that continent breed so many good artists these days (Emmi, Troye Sivan, and even tween heartthrobs 5SOS). I stumbled upon “Someone” by Australian artist Noella Nix late last night and proceeded to get lost in her music. I’m surprised that I just now happened to find out about her since she already has a few tracks under her belt that are just as impressive as her latest release (See Holding On).

With a sultry voice, Noella Nix croons over deep, dark electronic beats, produced by herself alongside Sam Lloyd. It’s great to see artists who are able to produce their own tracks as it can be sometimes difficult to get a good handle on both the artistry and the technical side of music. I’m getting some Grimes vibes, both in the tonality of the track and the vocal melodies, as well as considering the fact that Noella Nix is a self-operating machine as a producer, songwriter, AND excellent singer.
