[PREMIERE] Lila Drew – numb
Lila Drew is back with her amazing new single “numb” which is featured on the soundtrack for the new Netflix movie “The Last Summer” staring K.J Apa (“Riverdale”), Maia Mitchell (“The Fosters”), and Sosie Bacon (“13 Reasons Why”).
Minimal production opens the song with a vibrant atmosphere as Lila’s uniquely delicate voice glides above everything with a smooth energy. The chorus slams as vocal layers and a killer groove open up the track with infectious hooks.
Since debuting with her song “faded/2am” featuring GoldLink, Lila Drew has quickly become a prominent rising voice in pop. In a few short months, this 18-year-old London-born-LA-based has already garnered over 4 million streams on Spotify and “faded/2am” was recently remixed by the inimitable SG Lewis. Teaming with the best collaborators and displaying a distinctive sound & candid songwriting style, Lila Drew is certainly an artist to keep an eye on and “numb” makes it very clear that this is only the beginning!

In her words:
“I wrote ‘numb’ right at the beginning of 11th grade. I really wanted to write a song that I could dance to, but I also love the duality between lyrics and sonics. ‘Numb’ is a dark song at its core that explores the feeling of being ignored and misread. At the time I wrote ‘numb,’ I felt like a lot of elements in my life were uncertain – I had just turned 17, I wasn’t sure that I had found my sound yet, and I was finding myself growing up very quickly. This song kind of represents that period of time for me. I am also so happy and excited that numb is in “The Last Summer!” I just finished my last year of high school, and the movie is all about the last summer before college, so I can definitely relate!” -Lila Drew
