[DEBUT PREMIERE] Fuscia – “Tinted Blue”

For Los Angeles native, Rebecca Engelhardt, the question was never whether or not to pursue music but how?  Growing up studying classical piano and voice, after graduating from high school, she made the move to Boston to study Composition and Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music. There her mind was opened to a new world of soundscapes and technique, finetuning her innate skill for arrangement and composition, in addition to working a slew of quirky jobs, one being a florist at a local flower shop- a sort of ironic irl foreshadowing for what was to bloom next for Engelhardt.

Fast-forward to 2016, Engelhardt finds herself amongst a crowd of world renowned jazz cats, and by chance meets Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest and composer and arranger, Adrian Younge. From this serendipitous encounter blossomed a prominent musical mentorship, during which she was introduced to a surplus of records from the late ’60s and ’70s which have substantially influenced her luscious, jazz-infused R&B sound. Cue Fuscia, her pseudonym inspired by the flower and color, represents the artist blossoming into herself as a songwriter and artist.

Bringing us to this very moment in time, the world-debut of Fuscia’s first ever single release, “Tinted Blue,” co-written and produced by Connor Musarra (May 10). The first single off her forthcoming self-titled EP, the song presents an overarching metaphor on how negative self-talk and comparison can leave everything “tinted blue.” Sonically, “Tinted Blue” is an undeniably delectable treat for the ears. The track begins with Fuscia’s gorgeous musings featuring her pristine, yet soulful tone. As we fall into the first chorus, the instrumentation builds and surrounds the listener– leaving you floating atop a blissful baseline and grooving to an infectious drum part up to the conclusion of the tune. But enough talk, check out this exclusive preview of Fusica’s debut single above and be on the look our for the Fuscia EP, due Summer 2019.
