Admiration and Inspiration: Olya Sonica’s Newest Song Is Finally Here
Olya Sonica is the epitome of a rock and roller in the artistic sense, infusing the genre’s deep roots with a fresh modern twist to create a sound that is uniquely her own. As a classically trained pianist and self-taught guitarist, she masterfully weaves her recognizable voice and harmonies into rock anthems for a new generation of fans desperate for something contemporary that nevertheless holds the greatness that made musicians of yore truly timeless.
Olya’s latest track beautifully captures the yearning for a deep bond with another person, showcasing the power of love and its ability to ignite a sense of purpose and belonging. Titled “I Wanna Be Your Clon” explores the longing for a deep connection with someone.
The lyrics depict Olya’s pursuit of emotions and the vulnerability that comes with it. The verses convey the thrill of unraveling hidden truths, while the pre-choruses highlight the mysterious allure that captivates her heart, and she uses repetition to further emphasize how this person has rekindled her passion and made her dreams come alive again. They have reintroduced her to something familiar and meaningful, inspiring her to desire to be “just like them.”
“This song was born out of a conversation with an old & dear friend of mine. She was talking to me and everything she was saying was bringing me back to myself, out of the dark place into the light, she made me want to match that fierce energy of who I once was. I got on a train right after and ‘I Wanna Be Your Clone’ started playing in my head.” – Olya explains
Her debut album, “Alchemy,” – which I’ve personally been looking forward to – recorded and produced by Ben Rice at Degraw Sound in Brooklyn, is set to be released in April 2024 on Fan Girl Records, a new label for women by women, but until then, Olya Sonica is set to perform at the House of Blues in San Diego on October 30th, where she will celebrate the release of her latest work.
