Breakthrough Artists of 2015: PART 1
Artists like Adele, Lana Del Rey, Grimes, Melanie Martinez, Twenty One Pilots and The 1975 we all know! But let us take some time for artists who maybe didn’t receive the attention they deserved! There is a mix of indie, alt rock, pop and more!
1. Bibi Bourelly, from Berlin, Germany, has really caught some of us with her raspy voice and her feisty lyrics. Having written songs for Rihanna, in addition to being featured on songs by other artists, you know this girl has to be good! Bourelly evokes a badass vibe and she says she’s not taking anyone’s negativity! Her fearless lyrics will give you the power to keep pushing through daily struggles. With her single “RIOT“, released earlier this year, Bourelly proves that a song doesn’t need to be overproduced to be a hit. Her newest single, “Ego” released in October, will leave you speechless. If these two songs are any indication, Bibi will forever be remembered for her artistry and will change the attitudes of so many young people in the future.

2. In May we fell in love with the Texas singer Missio. Putting out his superb self titled EP “Missio“, he surprised us all with his intense and heavy songs. Take a listen to two of his captivating songs “I Run to You” and “Who Do I Think I Am.” You can feel the pain in his voice and it will send chills down your spine. Six months later he’s back and hes brought a brilliant track with him. “I Don’t Even Care About You” is polar opposite from his other soft-sounding work. The song gives a voice to our angry thoughts. We cant wait to hear more from Missio and we can tell 2016 will be a big year for him. Check out his brand new single ” Can I Exist ”

3. When listening to Club Kuru, you can hear the endless creativity and depth that gets put into his sound. You’ll soon find yourself listening to him on repeat. The Bristol singer really blows us away and we’ve never heard anything like him. Take a listen to some of these tracks that we fancy! Off his recent EP “Layla“, his lustful tune “You Don’t Know” really captures our imagination with it’s lyrics. Another one that we really enjoy is “Seesaw” off of his first EP “All The Days“. Buy his soothing music on iTunes and go for a long, relaxing drive.

4. Brooklyn based Aaron Taos is a huge cup of refreshing water bringing back actual good Indie Rock. His voice is so raw and intense that grabs your attention. Songs like “ILL“, “Simple & Sober” and “Jilabun” have passionate vocals that are mixed in with personal lyrics. Putting out his first EP “GUITS” Taos has really shown us how incredible he is with just guitar a little bit of beats and some back vocals. We know hes not going anywhere and 2016 will be a good year for him.
5. If you’re a fan of the dream-pop genre you’ll need to focus all your attention on this gem! Hazel English really had heads turning with her playful pop song “Never Going Home“. Right when we heard her we knew she was a keeper. Putting out two more singles this year “It’s Not Real” and “Fix” we have absolutely no complaints, everything she has released this year have been alluring and majestic!

6. It’s been about a year since Allie X sailed onto the scene with the release of her powerful synth singles “Catch“, “Prime“, and “Bitch“. Since then we’ve all fallen in love with the Canadian singer. Her debut EP, “CollXtion I,” came out April of 2015 and it’s mad brilliant! X is a hard one to pin down, her music is something you’ve never heard. Everything about her is inspiring her style, lyrics and the way she sings you can feel and hear the emotion in her voice. We just love her!
