“Nirvana was written a year ago from the heart of my small LA apartment. In fact, most of the song was written and finished in that very apartment. It’s a song birthed from one of my most heartbreaking… and ironically mature relationships. It was a relationship that I loved and cherished, but we grew apart because we changed and life changed… and we needed to go our separate ways… and that sucked. And the hardest part was all the wonderful things that lingered.
The song details the experiences and things in life that now all hold memories of my previous partner, now ex. Things as simple as driving through a neighborhood, walking in a grocery store, listening to a band… all now feel painful and different because the person with whom I shared so much of my life is no longer there. I wanted to write a song that wasn’t just about the pain of losing someone but the pain of having to acknowledge them in EVERYTHING in your life once they’re gone.”
She found her passion for music while doing musical theater during her undergraduate years in Chicago. As a result, she developed an original approach to music that has become her trademark.
