Camille Schmidt shares bedroom indie pop banger “XOXO”
New York based Camille Schmidt has been on our radar since earlier this year with the release of her magnificent folk/pop EP Good Person. The prolific artist is back with another unique musical offering. Called “XOXO”, the track is shared alongside an evocative and haunting music video.
“XOXO” is a playful almost mischievous indie pop single. It is a letter to those that didn’t truly understand Camille as well as her own self and the characters and roles she felt she had to play. Now she is leading with true authenticity and embracing who she truly is and giving a goodbye to those that don’t serve her. She shares, “This song is a reminder for me to not take myself so seriously. But at the same time to take “unseriousness” – play and fantasy – with the utmost seriousness. I wrote XOXO in a moment where I was finding a delicious freedom in realizing, “Huh so you don’t like me…. Oops, I don’t care!” i.e. XOXO, feel better soon ;)”. The track features affected vocals, a downtempo beat and a steady bass. Swirling guitars add to the catchy chorus for an enticing musical oasis.
Camille Schmidt is a singer-songwriter who resides in Brooklyn. Her new single “XOXO” is off of her forthcoming debut album Nude #9. The album is described as a revealing candid self-portrait.
