Grace Morrison ‘Saltwater Country’ is Americana bliss
Grace Morrison is a self proclaimed nerd but she should be a self proclaimed musical genius. Her 15 song album Saltwater Country is a delicious mix of county, folk, pop, rock, blues and Americana and the album marks an important step in her ever-evolving music career.
Saltwater Country pays homage to Grace’s upbringing, her hometown of Cape Cod as well as her cranberry growing family. The album is produced by the acclaimed Jon Evans who has worked with the likes of Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos. Standouts include the twangy fun-filled “Beer in a Teacup”, a song all about living fearlessly, embracing who you are and incorporating joy in your life. “Poor Man’s Daughter” is another gem. The “swampy” autobiographical track details Grace’s underprivileged upbringing and living a life with no running water or heat in New England. The music is a collision of blues-rock guitars, dark rhythms, and a soaring, infectious chorus. With “One Become Two”, the songwriter writes a narrative all about embracing your worth and not letting someone or something bring you down. The irresistible song features layered acoustic guitars, enticing harmonies and sing-a-long worthy lyrics. “Cranberry Blossoms” celebrates the hard working lineage of her family particularly her grandfather, her hometown and that cranberry harvesting lifestyle.
All in all, Grace Morrison’s Saltwater Country is a riveting, storytelling-filled, must hear album. Grace brings listeners into her world and emotions like never before, inspiring others to live and be their authentic selves.
