Yonny Expands His Vision With “Everywhere, But Always (Deluxe)”
Refined, well-produced, and carrying an elevated, intelligent tone, that’s what’s turning Yonny into a must-know name in Seattle rap. Now, with “Everywhere, But Always (Deluxe),” the rapper confirms his steps are steady and that his voice will continue to resonate with a microphone in hand.
The EP, which opens with its title track, “Everywhere, But Always,” arrives a year after the original project surpassed three million streams and positioned Yonny as an artist to watch. In this new edition, the rising figure expands that artistic statement with three unreleased tracks and heavyweight collaborations.
The production is precise, polished down to the smallest detail. On “I Am,” Yonny strips away the layers of artifice and keeps only the essence: acoustic guitars and raw lyrics that speak to self-acceptance.
Adding more prominent names to the local and national scene, the project features a remix of “Blue Door” with Ambré, a track that stands out for its contrasting vocal textures and a catchy beat laced with hints of classical instruments and purposeful silences.
Collaboration remains a constant throughout this extended version of his work, completed with Sango, who leaves his unmistakable stamp on “Jumbo Jet,” a rap infused with the sensual sound of a distant saxophone. The track has already been spotlighted on the cover of Amazon’s Break Through Hip-Hop playlist.
Yonatan “Yonny” Daniel, 24, was born in Seattle and carries in his music the pulse of his Ethiopian heritage, alongside influences ranging from Nirvana to Dr. Dre. His first breakthrough came with “Ghetto Sunset” and the single “SK[I]NCARE,” featuring Oble Reed. However, it was “Everywhere, But Always” (2024) that cemented him as a local force, with “City in Motion” marking a pivotal turning point in his career.
Recognition followed swiftly. The Seattle Times, Seattle Met, Ebro Darden, and On The Radar Radio all praised his arrival. On top of that, a campaign with the Seattle Sounders FC reinforced his identity as a cultural figure within the city.
Most recently, Yonny returned home to celebrate the album’s first anniversary with an intimate live jazz concert backed by a full band, reaffirming his bond with the community that drives him.
With “Everywhere, But Always (Deluxe),” Yonny delivers the definitive version of his sophomore album, charting a path of maturity and resilience that broadens the map of Seattle rap. Each track underscores the duality of an artist who balances vulnerability and confidence, grit and polish, tradition and modernity.
