silent collision Brings Stillness to Life on “Air Vent Lullabies”

Oklahoma-based songwriter and producer silent collision is known for crafting atmospheric, introspective music that moves between ambient textures, experimental elements, and emotionally driven songwriting. His latest release, “Air Vent Lullabies,” continues to explore these immersive sonic landscapes.

Across six carefully crafted tracks, silent collision delivers another cohesive and immersive body of work. The EP opens with “Look At The Sky,” blending his signature mix of ambient and slowcore while gently drawing listeners into his sonic world. Next, “Exhale, Inhale” settles into a trance-like calm, offering a rare and unforced sense of peace.

“With the Stars” feels both surreal and inviting. Subtle industrial undertones guide the listener into a slightly altered reality, one that feels distant yet strangely familiar. “Empty Hallway, 4:14am” is the shortest track on the project, never overstaying its welcome. It immerses the listener in its atmosphere, provides a fleeting moment of stillness, and quietly fades away.

“Air Vent Lullaby,” the title track, feels mechanical and intimate at once, as if you were suspended inside the inner workings of a machine. “Darkness Within Darkness” closes the EP on a calm, soft note. It could easily fit as a save-room theme in a Resident Evil game, carrying that familiar sense of relief and safety.

“‘Air Vent Lullabies’ began with a very small, very ordinary moment. Lying awake in the middle of the night, stretched out on the floor of a quiet hallway, listening to the hum of an air vent. There is something deeply comforting about that sound. It is constant, unbothered, and strangely musical. In those moments, the air vent does not feel like background noise. It feels like the perfect song for exactly that time of night. Calm, steady, and just present enough to keep your thoughts from drifting too far. The goal of this EP was to recreate that feeling. Not by imitating it, but by using it directly.”

“Air Vent Lullabies” is a pleasant surprise. silent collision’s style is reminiscent of Japanese composers such as Akira Yamaoka and Naoshi Mizuta. It’s refreshing to hear a Western artist offer his own take on ambient music. For listeners seeking something immersive and understated, this EP offers a distinctive late-night experience.
