Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer problemas is entering a new chapter as a solo artist. Best known for fronting The Oohlas, collaborating with Everclear drummer Greg Eklund, and later performing with Hustle Roses, she is now fully embracing her own creative vision. With her upcoming album, “joymaxxxing,” on the horizon, she continues that evolution with her new single, “Prototype.”

The track is a dreamy pop song that offers a strong introduction to her solo sound. Built around a catchy and hypnotic melody, it pairs playful, irreverent lyrics with polished production. Despite its refined sound, the song never loses its sense of humor, creating a surreal listening experience from beginning to end.

Following her 2023 single “Doomscrolling,” “Prototype” was written after the loss of her close friend and drummer collaborator, Jack. The song also explores relationships fractured by online deception and abandonment.

The single is accompanied by a music video that feels like a fever dream straight out of MTV or VH1’s golden era. With unconventional camera angles, fast-paced editing, and surreal backdrops, the video follows problemas through a series of performances across multiple locations.

“Shot in my beloved Sonoran Desert, ‘Prototype’ loosely follows a tale of being manipulated by and cheated on by a closet incel and the personal triumph of focusing on time, healing, learning about self, crying, and exercise rather than rushing back into fresh toxic situations to make new mistakes,” she shared.

“Prototype” highlights problemas’ distinctive approach to songwriting, blending surreal imagery with emotional honesty while avoiding conventional pop formulas.
