Bonnie McKee – Wasted Youth (Official Music Video)

Bonnie McKee, a favorite over here at We Found New Music, released her official music video for her song “Wasted Youth” last Tuesday. Katy Perry describes it as “all kinds of Tumblr,” which basically nails it on the head. This video is a Tumblr girl’s dream.

Endless GIF-ability shots include a girl bathing in a bathtub filled with milk and Fruit Loops and Lucky Charms, Bonnie bouncing in a fluffy pink marshmallow pool, a hand spanking a girl’s bum with glitter, and a man in tighty-whities wearing a motorcycle helmet hanging out in a massive tree (cue Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Bamboo Forest Fight Scene).

The video was shot in Standard Definition (SD) and made to look nostalgic, which enhances the lyrical message telling us to hold on to our youth because it’s gone in a second. When we’re young we must appreciate the opportunities we have at the time to do the things we want to do and “seize the day.” Here is an amazing explanation for what it means when they say, “youth is wasted on the young.”
