Duncan Smith Interview / Guest DJ Set
Ever wish there was a venue that supported all groups in the community while providing fantastic entertainment, food and drinks? Well, if you haven’t already been to a show at Resident in downtown LA, you should. For the first time we interviewed Duncan Smith, a Talent Buyer at Resident to talk about what it means to be a talent buyer and the different ways Resident has integrated itself into the community. Resident DTLA has always strived to support new and upcoming artists, such as Frenship (who has had an incredible year with their breakout hit ‘Capsize’).
In order to support the community they have themed nights like Feminist Fridays, where they book only female artists with the hope of supporting females in the community. There is also Juke Joint with Jackie Jackson the last Sunday of every month, House of ATM which is a queer arts collective that focuses on performance art and more. Resident prides itself on making sure all groups feel included while providing unique/new/fun/talented entertainment. Check out the interview to learn more about the process of booking, Duncan’s music picks and other things Resident has to offer.
