Basement Revolver – Baby

“Baby” by Basement Revolver keeps you hooked the moment the vocalist sings her first line. The production is reminiscent of 2000’s-folk-rock (like Band of Horses), but the airy/reverberated female vocals adds a whole new texture to a style I thought I already knew.

This song is powerful and brilliant in a way that feels like it’s constantly building. The vocals start peacefully, wonderfully contrasting the ringing guitars and loaded drums present in the verse, but by the time the chorus comes she’s singing an anthem with immense power. The outro is a wall of sound with vocals, screaming and swirling through a reverb, cascading as the song hits its climax.

Listen to “Baby” while driving down the highway at night, stars or city lights blurring around you.
