CHAMPS at The Hi Hat on 10/2
CHAMPS is performing on our weekly showcase at the Hi Hat on Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, 2019!
This vibrant and haunting duo recently released their full-length album “The Hard Interchange,” a much welcome return following their 2015 album “Vamala” and 2017 single “The Garden Is Overgrown.”
From the start, “The Hard Interchange” melodiously interweaves their twelves dreamy tracts together beginning with “Grey Eyes”, which effortlessly washes over its’ listener with distant guitars, smooth drums, and vocals that glide above the notes. The singles off the album, “Solid Action” and “Douglas Firs”, are intriguing in their unique variety. The former bumps with a biting directness and pulses with a dark energy towards an energetic chorus, while the latter slowly washes over you, a chill sleepy vibe and steady groove that immediately gets under your skin.
This is an album that’s meant to be heard thoroughly, whether it’s a late rainy night or a long drive along a windy road. Let this album’s smooth vibes and easy energy wash over you from song to song.
The standout song on the album for us was the title track, “The Hard Interchange”, combining retro synth elements with punchy percussion as haunting vocals float through earnest melodies. It’s a song that begs to be danced & sung along to by an energetic crowd!
We’re excited to see how the whole album translates live, as this duo takes to the stage and pours their hearts out! So jam with us to this killer album and come out to the Hi Hat on Oct. 2nd, 2019 to see CHAMPS perform alongside Tiffany Stringer, KidEyes, and The Social!
