Cherry V’s fragrant taste of a “Dolce Vida”

A woman of very many talents and facets. Veronica Osorio -better known as Cherry V- has accrued countless artistic skills that make her a creative entertainer with an enviable resume and a truly unique perspective.

Cherry V, was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Venezuelan parents. When she was just nine months old, her family moved to Caracas, Venezuela,(Making her a compatriot of yours truly) where she grew up with her brother. Veronica began her acting career at the age of ten, appearing in a variety of theater productions, including The Wizard of Oz and Midsummer Night’s Dream. She also trained in clowning, acrobatics, and juggling, which led to her working in circus acts and improv touring shows. In addition to her work in theater and performance, Veronica also appeared in the Venezuelan film Taita Boves and volunteered as a clown at a children’s hospital. She even had the opportunity to work with the real-life Patch Adams.

Since she made the move from Venezuela back to the States, she’s had a hand in just about anything you can imagine, working alongside well-established names in the world of entertainment such as recording with Childish Gambino, or working with some of the most renowned Hollywood directors, including the Coen Brothers, Steven Soderbergh, and even starring alongside icons like Gary Oldman and Meryl Streep. You may also have seen her as Marisol, a regular cast member in the 1940s drama Strange Angel on CBS All Access (executive produced by Ridley Scott), created by Mark Heyman of Black Swan.

Currently, V is in the process of releasing new music as alternative Latin hip-hop, a creative pathway that opened up to her when she was discovered by influential Venezuelan Rapper and Producer DJ13. The song’s name is a wordplay on Dolce Vita of course, the Italian phrase that means “The Sweet Life” and it is only half-way sarcastic, since the track itself deals with living your best life, even if it doesn’t look like what you imagined.

The Flowery, uplifting song is incensed and perfumed with both subtle and overt Latin textures that have been percolated through storied genres across decades and even borders of the greater South American region. Psychedelic Cumbia, Trova, Latin pop, and of course, the ever-so-important Urban twist of Southron hip-hop all seem to coalesce into a kaleidoscopic journey full of colorful Spanglish swagger.

“This unusual beat by Un Tal Yupi features birds and natural sounds and we find more joyous Cherry V, unconcerned with haters and naysayers, even the one inside her mind. This song is a Mantra offering for anyone who sings it so that they repeat these words and feel empowered to live life in this free, authentic way. The chorus is a celebration of life, the deliciousness of free will and living an uncompromised life”

Currently, Cherry V is the host of the popular Star Trek podcast Treks and the City and has recently joined the UCB Theater Character Team ensemble, where she performs on the first Wednesday of every month. She has also created several web series, including The Selfchelorette, Kate’s Craft Corner, and Life’s Great.
