Cryote – So Much Nature (Debut)
Meet CRYOTE, the new moniker from Joshua J Schmidt of Step Rockets notoriety. Well known by the WFNM crew for their viral hit “Kisser“. Since going solo, Joshua has had a series of life-changing events that have informed his new project. After losing his father to a brutal battle with cancer, he brought a baby girl into the world and somehow managed to find the time to begin a new musical project.
The debut single, “So Much Nature”, is a bouncy acoustic rock track co-written with his brother and 300 recording artist, Cobi. Lyrically the song seems to explore the challenges of relationships and family dynamics. Comparing a dense forest to the divides between his relationships no doubt inspired by his youth in Northern Minnesota.
Josh paints a picture to lose yourself in. One that invokes a quest for a more spiritual journey and a yearning for a better way to connect. The track shines at seamlessly blending genres while building upon layers of guitar lines and rhythmic syncopation. Inspiration from Step Rockets creeps through in the big choruses but opens a musical window into a more organic and acoustic approach that is new for Josh.
