Dom Jones sets the stage for her upcoming project with stunning “Seventh Sense”
There are moments in music when a single song transcends being just a melody and becomes a living, breathing experience. R&B artist Dom Jones’ latest release, “Seventh Sense,” is one of those moments. The multi-hyphenate artist and award-winning songwriter from Oakland, California, takes us on a musical journey into the depths of human connection, painting a vivid tapestry of passion, sensuality, rhythm, and timeless sound.
“Seventh Sense” envelops listeners in its gentle, seductive spell. Jones sings, “No need for speed, we could go slow, planted seeds take hours to grow,” transforming words into a multi-sensory indulgence that urges us to see love as eternal and exquisitely alive. Dom confides, “I’m inspired by soulful artists such as Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Chaka Khan, Minnie Riperton, and wanted to tap into the timelessness of what they gave music, while relating to the current landscape of R&B. I chose orange as the color for this song to relate to the eternal ember that can burn when passion is ignited.” Behind the masterful sound is producer Kasey Phillips, whose cross-cultural expertise spans the Caribbean to the United States, with credits including Ciara, BLXCKIE, and Chris Brown. Phillips crafts a sonic landscape that’s both expansive and intimate. This marks the duo’s 17th collaboration out of an incredible 100+ songs created together this year, and their creative chemistry is undeniable.
With credentials spanning Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, and major brands like Nissan, plus accolades from Berklee College of Music and the International Songwriting Competition, Dom Jones has proven her artistic prowess. Now with “Seventh Sense,” she delivers her most intimate work yet in a statement of artistic authenticity and emotional depth, building anticipation for her upcoming EP 2.0.
