Dream Prescription Makes a Statement With “Settle Down”
With a burst of rebellion and a showcase of their disruptive identity, indie band Dream Prescription steps into the spotlight with their latest single, “Settle Down.” The track is a declaration of freedom and living life to the fullest.
“Sometimes I wonder if I’m crazy to play in a rock band, being older than the typical aspiring front person,” says vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Tim Robert, who leads the band. “The initial inspiration for ‘Settle Down’ was me rebelling against those kinds of doubts, but it’s more than that. I think the idea of settling down means something different for everyone. Maybe it’s living a dull, quiet life or taming energetic passion, but regardless, I think it’s better to be a little crazy with passion than to be calm and lacking conviction.”
This track isn’t solely Robert’s creation. It’s a collaboration between seasoned musicians, including synthesist Kent Friedman, bassist and vocalist David Leatherwood, drummer Adam Fischel, and keyboardist and vocalist Brittany Anjou. Together, they craft a dynamic sound that merges intense synthesizers with infectious melodies, creating a track that energizes listeners while delivering a clear, thought-provoking message.
Dream Prescription, founded by Tim Robert and Kent Friedman, burst onto the New York City music scene in 2020. Over the past two years, the band has experienced its most significant evolution, welcoming Fischel and Anjou, who have added fresh perspectives to the group’s musical identity.
In 2023, the band released singles like “Start Over Again” and “Get The Picture.” By 2024, they followed up with “Star Size,” “Shadow Of Your Eyes,” “Think Of You,” and now “Settle Down.”
Robert describes Dream Prescription as a space for expression and liberation; “Settle Down” perfectly embodies this vision: “I want to write songs that are accessible but countercultural and wrestle with questions of what I want and what I dream of and the challenges I face in making my desires a reality. I’m hopeful that the realization of those songs with my collaborators will result in a compelling rock/electronic hybrid style that will give our fans a feeling of catharsis.”
