Fake Dad’s “ON/OFF” is the grunge anthem we all need
Fake Dad is the musical project of Andrea de Varona and Josh Ford. The duo have crafted infectious and daring music spanning in genres including synth pop, bedroom pop, alt pop, grunge and indie rock. Their latest offering is the rock banger “ON/OFF”.
“ON/OFF” is a gritty, bold and grunge licked track all about burnout, depression, dissociation and feeling emotionally overwhelmed. Imagery of unsettledness and uneasiness are filled in the song with metaphors like a cat scratching at the door and dry spells. Dark-hued guitars begin the track which soon erupts into a soaring chorus over crunchy bass. “ON/OFF” features guitarist Jeff Frantom (Blondshell) who lends his talents perfectly to the track. As always Andrea’s vocal delivery is captivating and confident. Her raw, unfiltered lyrics and commanding voice elevate what could have been just another angsty record into a deeply emotional journey.
Fake Dad began sharing music in 2019. The two met at a party in NYC and have become inseparable ever since. Landing music critical acclaim and over a dozen official Spotify playlists, Fake Dad have already gotten a taste of early success. “ON/OFF” continues their impressive musical journey.
