James Bruner returns with “OMG,” a pop-rock single inspired by a simple, everyday moment that unfolds into a story of instant attraction, emotional tension, and guitar-driven energy.
The song is the first track he wrote with Shane Weisman. They began working together in 2024, and that initial collaboration paved the way for many of the songs that followed.
Bruner recalls the writing process as a period of excitement and discovery. “OMG” grew out of the idea of writing a pop-rock track about a man instantly falling for a girl he notices at a crosswalk.
“It was a different style of writing than I was used to immersing myself in. But the more I listened to the song and paid attention to what we were creating, the more I realized how important taking risks and embracing feelings of discomfort is as an artist,” he says.
That creative freedom is also evident throughout the song. “OMG” blends driving guitars, a steady pulse, and wide-open melodies that sustain its momentum from beginning to end. The rhythm section keeps everything moving naturally, while the guitars provide texture, tension, and attitude. Built on a clean, effective structure, the arrangement gradually expands until the chorus bursts open before closing with a distinctly rock-driven finish.
Musically, the track captures the mix of attraction, confidence, chaos, and vulnerability that comes with becoming completely consumed by another person. It focuses on that fleeting instant when a stranger unexpectedly takes over someone’s thoughts and emotions.
“OMG” offers a direct introduction to the world of “Can’t Keep Wanting You,” Bruner’s upcoming album. The record is expected to explore a wider emotional and musical range, moving from anthemic rock choruses to more vulnerable, introspective moments.
