JENSEN MCRAE – THE PLAGUE

One of our favorite artists right now is Jensen Mcrae. Her voice is so uniquely soulful, she draws comparisons to Phoebe Bridgers or Soccer Mommy, while being influenced by far more soulful inspirations like Stevie Wonder, or Nina Simone. These songs are so brilliantly stripped down, while always appearing to have a clear direction. Some of that may be in part to her producer, Grammy award winning, Rahki (Eminem, Kendrick Lamar). While finishing school at my alma mater, USC, the two of them were already in the studio working on Jensens debut body of work, due out later this year.

The Plague is inspired by the pandemic we are all dealing with today. The song is heartbreakingly beautiful, much like her other songs. The warmth of Jensens vocals put us at ease as we all work our way through this difficult time.
