Kris Gruen – Everyday and Night Now (feat. Peter Morén)

Good folk always gets under my skin. Acoustic guitar lines, atmospheres of slide guitars, and a great vocalist is all it takes to get me writing. “Everyday and Night Now” by Kris Gruen is a song like that and it’s the single off his forthcoming album “Coast & Refuge”. It’s a duet with Peter Morén (of Peter Bjorn and John) and the collaboration results in a compellingly authentic anthem.

The vocals are plaintive and relaxed (reminiscent of The Decemberists) while the song itself explodes into a folky ballad (like Mumford and Sons, or even OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars”). This is the kind of folk song you’d want to see performed live and a perfect glimpse at Kris Gruen’s upcoming record.
