Middle Part shares phenomenal debut album ‘Disruptor’

Brooklyn’s Middle Part has just released his highly anticipated album and it is all it promised to be and more. With 10 evocative tracks discussing important themes including navigating mental health issues including depression and anxiety as well as the challenges of getting older, the highly relatable and important full length is a strong debut. Entitled Disruptor, the album also is centered around the theme of self acceptance and love, with the artist trying to embrace life’s changes and oppositions at every turn. Now let’s dive in.

The album begins with “Get Fixed”, an alt pop song oozing with rock and an early 2000s sonic sensibility. The track is all about growing up and trying to handle the disappointments and regrets people have along the way. The anthemic chorus shows what the artist does best, creating an enveloping and infectious hook. Then there is the single “Nowhere”, a lush track that begins with emotional acoustic guitars and soulful vocals soon colliding with searing electric guitars. The song is all about becoming a better person and leaving a toxic ego aside. He confides that the track is “a refrain from all the anger that populates a lot of the record. It’s a confession of wanting to choose self-acceptance over continuously worrying about what others may think. Appreciating the present moment rather than placing oneself at the center of the universe is the key theme.” “Dial*” is a haunting, deeply sad and heart wrenching narrative about the moment where someone dials for help during a suicidal episode. The track is heroic in showing this battle and one that is often not explored in music. The song is hazy and dreamy evoking the out of body experience one has with deep mental health issues. Another standout is “Echo” which chronicles the effects addition and self destruction can have on relationships.

Overall Middle Part has proven he is an artist to watch. With gritty bedroom pop combined with alternative rock and imagery that is deeply hard-hitting, the musician has given listeners a musical treasure that is sure to catapult him into the mainstream.
