MOTHICA shares the album of the summer ‘KISSING DEATH’

Dark alternative pop artist MOTHICA has just shared her dynamic and emotionally charged album KISSING DEATH. Featuring 12 songs, the album touches on existential themes of death, anxiety, depression and ultimate resilience. With a blend of anthemic choruses and introspective moments, KISSING DEATH further solidifies MOTHICA’s place in the modern pop landscape.

Single “Doomed” touches upon expectations and what it is like to deal with the gifted child syndrome. Feeling not good enough and not living up to one’s own accomplishments is the highlighted theme in this shoegaze-laced moody alt pop anthem. With “Curiosity Killed the Moth”, listeners are ushered into her world with melancholic-rich guitars, layered vocals and a sing-a-long worthy chorus. The track details a spin on curiosity killed the cat but with a moth instead. She proclaims, “Like a moth to a flame. Icarus flying too close to the sun.”  Single “Red” is a pop rock bop complete with a haunting and gripping melody and powerful drums, creating a heart beat inducing atmospheric soundtrack. Focus track “Mirage” is a poignant narrative about deep mental health struggles with MOTHICA singing “No matter who far I go / I’m still running away / I keep loosing my faith.” The music is raw and seductive, with a mix of high-energy moments and more subdued, intimate moments.

KISSING DEATH is not only a phenomenal musical soundtrack but it also is a visual arts delight. The album is shared with a series of music videos, each cinematic in their own right. MOTHICA shares, “Throughout the visuals, I’m seen in a therapist’s office explaining this complicated relationship as if describing a scorned lover. The videos unfold a surrealist version of my life story.”

Take a listen to MOTHICA’s new album now and catch her on tour in a city near you.
