Peter Manning Robinson shares exquisite “Bent Out of Shape”

Acclaimed and award-winning composer Peter Manning Robinson has released “Bent Out of Shape” an emotional pivot from “Pure Heartbreak”. With his new single is a piece born from hardship but refusing to stay there. Instead of dwelling in melancholy, Peter Manning Robinson leans into buoyancy, crafting a neo-classical composition that dances with optimism without ever feeling naive.

The track’s defining strength is its playful unpredictability. The sonics bends and rebounds, almost mirroring its title, melodic lines twist, pause, and re-emerge with renewed lightness. There’s a subtle jazz-informed elasticity beneath the classical structure, which keeps the piece feeling alive.

What stands out most is the emotional honesty beneath the brightness. Peter Manning Robinson’s touch on the piano is expressive and cinematic, giving the piece a narrative arc even without lyrics.

The music video, directed by Klaus Hoch, expands the song’s emotional core into a visual story of reconciliation and reflection. Set in a seaside mansion, the video immediately establishes a dreamlike atmosphere, elegant, isolated, and slightly surreal. The location itself becomes symbolic: a place filled with memory, distance, and perspective. The narrative unfolds as a journey through a shared past, using visual motifs and spatial movement rather than dialogue. This approach complements the instrumental track beautifully,  the absence of lyrics allows the imagery to carry emotional specificity.

A refined, cinematic piece of modern instrumental storytelling, thoughtful, expressive, and quietly powerful. In the context of his upcoming album Excursions, this single works as a moment of release and renewal, offering listeners a breath of air after emotional weight.
