Photocomfort shares intricate, lush and dynamic album ‘Patron Saint’
Boston artist Photocomfort has just shared her album Patron Saint, an eleven song musical collection all about the intricacies of platonic relationships. From friendships to family ties, Patron Saint is an important reflection about all of those we hold dear and the dynamics of interpersonal connections. The album follows the single “Roll” which came out last month alongside a music video.
Patron Saint begins with “Take It On”, a slow-burned Jazz infused ballad. Photocomfort’s gorgeous vocals sing soothing melodies against playful piano. The lyrics are hopeful with the artist telling her friend that she feels like they can take on the future and live a better life. The song is cathartic and genre-blending and it is a perfect introduction to the full album to come. Then there is “Roll”, a colorful, enigmatic track filled with unique instrumentation and a soaring pop hook. The single also includes twangy guitars, and bright beats. “Roll’ is a radio-worthy hit showcasing Photocomfort’s ability to pen commercial pop songs with an indie and experimental sensibility. Another standout includes “Close to the Sun”, a song which features verses by hip hop artist Cliff Notez. Mood-drenched basslines, sparkly keys and angelic vocals mix with Cliff Notez’s witty rhymes. The album concludes with “Legs (Lydia Knocks on the Door)” a timeless and nostalgic song filled with Photocomfort’s vocal prowess leaving the listener goosebumps.
Photocomfort has an ability to make listeners feel a myriad of strong emotions with her stirring and mesmerizing music. Patron Saint is no exception and despite the songwriter being absent for many years, we are glad she is back.
