Ruuth & VYEN – Shivers

Ruuth & VYEN have just released their incredible new single “Shivers” and it really hit home for me.

Following this Berlin-based artist’s successful debut with “All About”, “Shivers” proves that Ruuth’s distinctly gentle voice & heartfelt songwriting is capable of making serious ripples in the world of pop music.

From the moment the atmospheric production fades in, you can tell this song is special.

Ruuth & VYEN’s octaves blend perfectly (reminiscent of Oh Wonder & recent Jeremy Zucker/Chelsea Cutler collaborations) as they drift & float through heartbreaking melodies & hooks.

There’s a wistfulness to Ruuth’s vocals that are balanced by VYEN’s smooth croon.

The production is minimal, growing around the vocals, but never drawing attention from them. It’s a rare & mature sparseness that is unafraid of leaving moments of silence as their words hang in the air.

The outro chorus with just their voices & an acoustic guitar lands like a deep breath; quiet, careful, and calming all at once.

“Shivers” weighs heavy on your heart in the way you hope a song like this would and I have no doubt this song will add momentum to Ruuth’s already rapid rise.
