SKATELAND tries to let go of the past with “Sunset Cinema”
SKATELAND is the musical project of Las Vegas born and bred singer-songwriter Dorian Williams II. The now Austin based creator is making waves with his bedroom pop and indie rock releases. His latest is the irresistible single “Sunset Cinema”.
“Sunset Cinema” is filled with lush instrumentation that creates a dreamy atmosphere. It’s a standout track that captures SKATELAND’s unique charm and creativity. The single details the art of letting go, sometimes it is so easy to hang on to things, people and memories when the best thing to do for ourselves is to move on. SKATELAND confides “I wrestle a lot with the tension of letting go and moving on, and that can be for something as big as ending a relationship, or as simple as throwing away a beat up old t-shirt. There’s a romanticism to that idea which can be great, but the downside is that you can sometimes stay in something for longer than you should because you’re hyper aware that when it’s over it’ll be gone for good.”
The song is a testament to his evolution as an artist, offering both catchy hooks and deep emotional resonance. Add this gem to your playlist and if you are in Austin, check out SKATELAND live with Foster the People.
