Some Days Are Darker intrigue with new dark rock single “Memorize You”
NY-based rock trio Some Days Are Darker are a new band on our radar. The three-piece creates genre-fusing musical releases taking elements of goth, alternative rock, synth wave, post punk and more with a pitch black lens. Their latest single is entitled “Memorize You” and it is out with a storied black and white music video.
“Memorize You” is a spellbinding narration of the twilight between romance and ruin. The song tackles the theme of how longing begins and can quickly become dangerous. Intoxication, desire, obsession and more intense feelings all collide in this musical masterpiece.
Built around a restless pulse and enveloped in shadowy, synth-driven textures, “Memorize You” unfolds with the cinematic tension of a late-night noir. The song includes an expansive towering rush of sound, mirroring the track’s emotional descent as passion becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish from fixation.
“I want to memorize you, your freckles and scars, the longing in your eyes, the rhythm of your heart,” Lear sings, capturing that peculiar moment when falling for someone becomes an almost physical hunger to know every detail of them. It’s romantic, certainly, but there’s an edge to the sentiment, a suggestion that the desire to hold onto someone can become its own kind of undoing.
The accompanying music video further deepens the song’s shadowy atmosphere, giving “Memorize You” a visual language that feels as hypnotic and emotionally charged as the music itself. There’s a sense of romance throughout, but never one without consequence. Some Days Are Darker understand that sometimes the most alluring feelings are the ones that carry a hint of danger.
That tension is central to Some Days Are Darker’s sound. Originally the solo project of former metalcore guitarist Lear Mason, the project has evolved into a three-piece with bassist/guitarist/keyboardist Chris Martin and drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Robbie Williamson. Together, they create their own irresistible sound.
“Memorize You” arrives ahead of the band’s forthcoming album, *Black Box Warning*, a twelve-song exploration of desire and consequence recorded with Dave Catching at the legendary Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree.
