[DEBUT] Sophia Lanuza – Borrowed

Sophia Lanuza debuts with “Borrowed” and it’s the kind of song that really gets under your skin. Understated vocals and minimal production highlight Sophia’s incredible songwriting ability. Each line builds carefully, setting up a melancholic story that drives towards an anthemic (Swift-esque) chorus.

This is a strong debut and it’s clear Sophia Lanuza has potential as a heartfelt songwriter with a sweet and distinctive voice.

In her words:
For me, ‘Borrowed’ is about knowing full well that the situation you’re walking into is a temporary thing, and this person is someone you absolutely can’t have. I think we all have someone that makes us irrational, but for some reason, that irrationality is often mistaken as a lack of self-respect. I wrote ‘Borrowed’ because I wanted to be honest and talk about this raw and thoroughly human state of being we all end up in at one point or another – when logic kinda caves to the desire to care for someone else, no matter the cost. To me, it’s not something to be ashamed of, and it’s definitely not weakness. It’s just kinda par for the course when you’re in love with someone you can’t have.” -Sophia Lanuza
