VICEROY: Fade Out (ft. Gavin Turek)
VICEROY’s new single, “Fade Out” featuring Gavin Turek, is a tropical hit that brings me back to my high school summers on the beach. Austen Afridi’s VICEROY is most well known for remixing popular tracks from the likes of Notorious B.I.G. and Lady Gaga. This new original “Fade Out” is a welcome departure from his usual hip hop/house genre and a foray into bubblegum pop.
“Fade Out” begins with a quick octave guitar riff and bursts into an instantly fun, disco-like beat. There are layers of bass, guitar and drums that fade in and out in intensity, mimicking the title and the chorus. Viceroy’s use of the synth adds a great contemporary touch and manages to create a hypnotic and dynamic sound. I was hooked on Turek’s voice immediately, particularly because it feels inspired by the vocal stylings of “F*** You,” by Lily Allen. The airy vocals layered over the bright instrumentals make the song light and approachable. With such a happy, bouncy vibe, Viceroy’s “Fade Out” ft. Gavin Turek is perfect for its summer release.
