Violet Days – Just A Little

Violet Days has released “Just A Little” and I’m so excited it’s finally out! I first heard this song when they performed it at SXSW and I remember immediately looking up the lyrics, trying to find it online.

Violet Days is comprised of Lina Hansson & Kris Eriksson and it’s no secret that these two are incredibly talented songwriters. The writing in “Just A Little” is so strong, starting with a rhythmic verse that carries the listener through the concept and stays in Lina’s lower register. As her voice rises in the pre-chorus, the track builds with it before finally reaching the highest melodic moment & heaviest production in the chorus. The chorus is heartbreaking and immediately gets stuck in your head with vocal layers accenting every powerful moment. The soft way Lina sings “hurt” in her falsetto contrasts the angry intensity of the second half of the chorus when she sings “I want you to piss me off in the morning”.

It all comes together so well and the authentically relatable situation does hurt just a little. Violet Days is back with an incredible new song that once again showcases the strength of their songwriting.
