WFNM Roundup #13 – KidEyes, TAVIA, Cherryade, Koda
KidEyes just released back-to-back singles “Love Better” & “Let Go”. “Love Better” pulls at you with a calm intensity and frantic energy that awesomely conflicts with its mellow vibe. Its careful lyricism is highlighted by it’s slowly dynamics that works to keep you hooked.“Love Better” contrasts the softness of “Let Go”. Immediately, you know this song is bigger & louder with a palpable momentum. It has a constant motion that carries you along at a breakneck pace (reminiscent of Kings of Leon or Angels & Airwaves) that’s perfect for blasting on a late-night drive. An awesome double-release from KidEyes!
TAVIA’s song “Solstice” immediately gets under your skin with soft acoustic guitar and intimate vocals. It feels like you’re in the room with her as she tells a story that develops around you. There’s a beating heart in this song that can be felt as it slowly builds towards a quiet intensity. This is a powerful song from a kind-hearted artist.
“Got You Good” by Cherryade is sweet upbeat pop that doesn’t hesitate to explode in a firework of energetic production. It’s a bouncing vibe that pings across your headphones and doesn’t let up as Cherryade’s unique vocals floats about it all. This is a song for the summer that I’m hoping to hear blasting through club speakers in the near future. Cherryade just released her new record “Fractured Fairytales” so be sure to give that a listen!
“nazareth” by Koda is a dark & disquieting from the start, drawing you in with gritty synth layers and smooth sardonic vocals. The atmosphere & vibe is maintained throughout with elements entering and exiting in periphery, but never drawing focus from Koda’s performance. At times disorienting, at times agitating, this song knows exactly what it wants from its listener and hits where it aims. Koda is here with impressive fervor.
