You & Jennifer – bülow

“You & Jennifer” is an incredible new song from bülow off her new EP “Damaged Vol. 2”.

I should mention that I was sent this song from a few different friends all saying “HAVE YOU HEARD THIS??”

Sure, everyone likes sharing music, but it takes a special kind of song to connect this strongly with a wide range of people.

Maybe it’s bülow’s voice; the vocals are gentle and innocent, which makes every biting line, rhythmic vibe, or “explicit” word cut that much deeper. Vocoder stacks in the chorus make those words hit home and adds so much power to what was a gentle voice moments earlier.

Maybe it’s the songwriting; perfectly tight, rhythmic phrases full of clever lines that feel personal, direct, and universally relatable all at once. The melodies are catchy and cathartic with a chorus that’s wonderfully simple and biting.

Maybe it’s the production; minimal, gritty, and dynamic with unwavering support for the vocals.

Obviously it’s the combination, each element coming together to make a unique track that should belong on any music blogger’s “Top Songs of 2018” list.

bülow is on the rise and “You & Jennifer” (and the EP “Damaged Vol. 2”) proves that this is only the beginning.
